The grade 8s have been invited to join grade 8s from Ecole Charleswood and Laidlaw School for a pizza lunch and mass rehearsal on May 1st. We will be departing VW at 11:45 by bus and returning for the end of the day. There is no cost for the field trip, and the lunch is being provided by our Music Consultant. We're going on a field trip to Ecole Charleswood on May 1st in the afternoon for a "meet and greet" with other grade 8 band students in our division, a pizza lunch, and some band fun! We leave VW at 11:45 and arrive at noon at ECS. We'll eat pizza, play, and then come back for 3 PM or so. Permission slip is coming, we're playing African Festival and Of Gentle Spirit. Our band concert is fast approaching, and I wanted to give you information about the evening and what is expected. Where: Immanuel Pentecostal Church – 955 Wilkes. When: The concert begins at 6:30 PM and will end by 8 PM. Students are expected to arrive early – between 5:30 and 6. Who – all students in band in grade 6-8 and all students in choir are expected to attend. All parents, friends, family, and well-wishers are encouraged to attend! There is no cost to attend. What to wear: A solid white top and black bottoms, socks, and shoes. Dress shirts and dress pants/shoes are preferred if possible. We will be having a dress rehearsal at IPC on the day of the concert. A field trip permission form will be coming soon. A side note: we are aware that the Shaftesbury Open House is the same evening. The jazz band and grade 8 band will be performing first so the English 8s can leave if they need to. Please let me know if you have any questions! Choose ONE of these songs from our 40 Canadian Folk Songs: 9,10,11,12,17,22,23,30,34,35,36,38,39,40. Percussionists will play 1,2,3, or 4 on the mallets and up to letter E of “Stick With It”. Perform this song for Mr. Neufeld. Marks will reflect notes, rhythm, tone, articulation, dynamics, pulse, choice of tempo, musicality, and attention to detail. You will play three of 5 scales: concert C, F, Bb, Eb, or Ab. With the scale, you will play one of these 4 exercises: scale in 8th notes, arpeggio, scale in 3rds, or triplet scale. Scale and exercise will be determined randomly at the time of the test. Tempo – scale in 8th notes at q=80. Due date: ASAP till end of day June 16th.
